Like almost every online shop, pakvitae.org uses a small number of cookies so that your cart, checkout and login work. Anything beyond that — such as analytics — is switched off until you say yes. This page explains what each cookie does and how to change your mind.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. They let the site remember things between pages or visits — for example, that you added a Water Ka Doctor to your cart, or that you already answered the cookie banner. Similar technologies include browser “local storage”, which some of our tools use to remember your inputs on your own device.
Cookies set by pakvitae.org are “first-party” cookies. Cookies set by another domain (for example a video service) are “third-party” cookies.
2. How we use cookies
We group cookies into four categories. Only the first is active by default.
| Category | Purpose | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Cart, checkout, security, login and remembering your consent | Always on (the site cannot work without them) |
| Functional | Remembering preferences such as a dismissed notice or embedded video playback | Off until you consent |
| Analytics | Counting visits and understanding which pages help people, in aggregated form | Off until you consent |
| Advertising | Not used on pakvitae.org at present | Not used |
3. Cookies we use
| Cookie name | Set by | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
woocommerce_cart_hash | WooCommerce | Necessary | Detects changes to your cart contents | Session |
woocommerce_items_in_cart | WooCommerce | Necessary | Remembers that your cart is not empty | Session |
wp_woocommerce_session_* | WooCommerce | Necessary | Links you to your cart and checkout data | 2 days |
woocommerce_recently_viewed | WooCommerce | Functional | Shows products you viewed recently | Session |
wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_* | WordPress | Necessary | Keeps you logged in to your account securely | Session or 14 days if “Remember me” |
wordpress_test_cookie | WordPress | Necessary | Checks that your browser accepts cookies | Session |
wfwaf-authcookie-* | Wordfence | Necessary | Lets the security firewall recognise logged-in users | 12 hours |
cookieyes-consent | CookieYes | Necessary | Stores your cookie choices so the banner does not reappear on every page | 12 months |
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics (only if enabled) | Analytics | Distinguishes visitors to produce aggregated statistics | Up to 2 years |
Our tools — the water quality checker and savings calculator — may also save your last answers in your browser’s local storage. That data never leaves your device unless you submit a form.
If we add new cookies, CookieYes will scan the site and list them in the cookie settings panel, which always shows the current, complete list.
4. Third-party content
Product and project videos are shown with a “click to play” preview. No YouTube cookies are set until you click play. Our social-media icons are plain links, not tracking widgets — Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube only set cookies once you visit their sites.
5. The CookieYes banner and your consent
When you first visit pakvitae.org, a CookieYes banner asks for your choice. You can:
- Accept all — enable functional and analytics cookies;
- Reject all — keep only strictly necessary cookies;
- Customise — switch individual categories on or off.
Rejecting cookies does not stop you from shopping. Your choice is stored for 12 months, after which we ask again. CookieYes keeps an anonymised log of consent (date, choice and consent ID) so we can show that consent was given, as required by GDPR-style laws.
6. How to change or withdraw consent
- Click the “Cookie settings” link in the website footer, or the small cookie icon at the bottom of the screen, to reopen the preferences panel at any time.
- Change your choices and save. Withdrawing consent stops new analytics cookies; you can delete existing ones in your browser.
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Settings → Safari → Advanced / Privacy
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Because we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, Do Not Track signals do not change how the site behaves. Where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a rejection of optional cookies.
8. More information
For details about how we handle personal data generally, read our Privacy Policy. If you have questions about cookies, email [email protected] or contact us via WhatsApp at 0304-1110227.
9. Why some cookies cannot be switched off
Strictly necessary cookies are what make an online shop behave like a shop. Without wp_woocommerce_session_*, the website would forget your cart the moment you opened another page; without the WordPress login cookies, you would be signed out on every click; and without the Wordfence cookie, our firewall could mistake a logged-in customer for an attacker. These cookies do not track you across other websites, are not used for advertising, and are not shared with third parties for their own purposes. That is why privacy laws, including GDPR, allow them without consent — but we still list them here so you know exactly what is stored.
10. What our analytics would — and would not — tell us
If you accept analytics cookies, we see aggregated information such as how many people read our article on TDS, which cities our visitors come from at city level, and whether people abandon the checkout at a particular step. We configure analytics to anonymise IP addresses where the tool allows it, we do not combine analytics with your order data, and we do not use it to build advertising audiences. If you decline, none of this is recorded about your visit.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update this page if we change the cookies we use. The date at the top shows the latest version.
