We want every family that buys from PAKVITAE to know exactly what our purifiers can and cannot do. This page sets out the limits of our products, the nature of the information we publish, and how to read the testimonials, test results and links you will find on pakvitae.org.
1. What Water Ka Doctor is designed to do
Water Ka Doctor is a hollow-fibre ultrafiltration purifier with a nominal pore size of 0.1 micron. It is designed to physically remove particles larger than its pores from sweet (fresh) water, including:
- bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella and Vibrio cholerae;
- protozoan parasites and cysts such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium;
- micro-plastics and many nano-plastic particles;
- silt, rust flakes, sediment and other suspended or undissolved solids that make water cloudy.
Removal claims such as “99.9999% of bacteria” are based on laboratory testing of the membrane under controlled conditions and on testing by recognised institutions including NUST, SGS and PCRWR. They describe the capability of the membrane, not a guarantee for every source of water in every circumstance.
2. What Water Ka Doctor does NOT remove
Ultrafiltration works by size. Substances that are dissolved in water pass through the membrane just as minerals do. This is why the purifier keeps beneficial minerals such as calcium and magnesium — and also why it is not a solution for the following:
| Contaminant | Removed by Water Ka Doctor? | What to consider instead |
|---|---|---|
| High TDS / salinity (brackish or “khara” water) | No | Reverse osmosis (RO) with remineralisation |
| Arsenic | No | Certified arsenic-removal media or RO, after lab testing |
| Fluoride | No | Activated alumina, bone-char or RO systems |
| Nitrates and nitrites | No | Ion exchange or RO |
| Lead, mercury, chromium and other dissolved heavy metals | No | Specialised adsorption media or RO; find and fix the source |
| Pesticides, solvents, fuel and industrial chemicals | No | Do not drink; use an alternative source and seek expert advice |
| Chlorine taste and odour | Not designed for it | Activated-carbon pre- or post-filter |
| Hardness (scale) | No | Water softener, if desired |
| Viruses | Reduced but not claimed to be completely removed | Combine with boiling or chlorination where viral contamination is suspected |
If you do not know what is in your water, please test it first. Our water quality testing service and our article on TDS and when you need RO can help you decide.
3. Results vary
Flow rate (up to 60 litres per hour) and usage life (about 2 years or 10,000 litres) are typical values. Actual results depend on:
- the turbidity, iron and silt content of your source water;
- water pressure and the height of a gravity container;
- how often you backwash;
- temperature, storage hygiene and how filtered water is handled after filtering.
Filtered water can be re-contaminated by dirty glasses, bottles, jerrycans or hands. Store filtered water in clean, covered containers and use it within a reasonable time.
4. Health and medical disclaimer
The articles, guides, FAQs and tools on pakvitae.org — including our water quality checker — are for general education only. They are not medical advice and are not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a qualified doctor. If you or a family member has diarrhoea, vomiting, fever, blood in stool, signs of dehydration or any other symptom, seek medical care promptly. In children, the elderly and pregnant women, dehydration from water-borne illness can become serious quickly.
Statements about the health benefits of clean water reflect widely accepted public-health guidance from bodies such as the World Health Organization and UNICEF. They are not claims that our product cures, treats or prevents any specific disease.
5. Laboratory tests and certifications
References to testing or certification by NUST, SGS and PCRWR relate to specific samples and test parameters at the time of testing. Copies or summaries of reports can be requested from us. A certification does not mean that the testing body endorses every claim on this website or guarantees the product’s performance with your particular water. Test standards and product batches may change over time; we update information as new tests are completed.
Results from our own water-testing service describe only the sample collected on the date of testing.
6. Testimonials and project stories
Testimonials from community leaders, teachers and customers are genuine accounts shared with us, sometimes lightly edited for length or translated. They reflect individual experiences in specific places — such as Faisalabad, Haroonabad, the Afghan refugee settlement in Islamabad and flood-affected areas of Kerala — and are not a promise that every user will have the same results. Figures such as the number of people served are based on our project records and partner reports.
7. External links
We link to outside websites — for example WHO, UNICEF, PCRWR, news reports and our social media profiles — because we think they are useful. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
8. No affiliate or sponsored content
PAKVITAE does not currently earn affiliate commissions from links on this site, and our articles are not paid for by third parties. When we compare technologies such as RO, UV and ultrafiltration, we explain where other technologies are the better choice — including cases where Water Ka Doctor is not the right product for you. If we ever publish sponsored or affiliate content, it will be clearly labelled.
9. Community, school and relief installations
Community Filter Stations and Emergency Relief Packs are designed to give groups of people access to microbiologically safer water quickly, including where there is no electricity. Their performance depends on proper operation by local caretakers: regular backwashing, keeping storage tanks and taps clean, protecting the unit from damage and replacing it at the end of its usage life. PAKVITAE provides training and instructions, but we do not operate community sites day to day and cannot be responsible for water quality where units are misused, neglected, tampered with or connected to sources outside their design limits. In emergencies, filtered water should be part of a broader hygiene response that includes safe storage, sanitation and handwashing.
10. Online tools and calculators
Our water quality checker, savings calculator and similar tools give indicative suggestions based on the answers you provide. They cannot detect what is actually in your water. A suggestion that Water Ka Doctor “may suit” your source is not a test result; if your water tastes salty, smells of chemicals, comes from near industry or farmland, or your area is known for arsenic or fluoride, get a laboratory test before relying on any purifier.
11. Errors and updates
We work hard to keep information accurate and current, but mistakes happen and facts change. Prices, specifications, availability and regulatory information may be updated without notice. If you spot an error, please tell us at [email protected] and we will correct it.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, PAKVITAE is not liable for any loss or harm arising from reliance on the general information published on this website, or from using our products with water they are not designed for. Our full liability terms are set out in the Terms & Conditions.
